Christmas Eve 2009!

Renny's family gets together every Christmas Eve. Santa comes (Uncle Ronnie but dont tell the kids lol!) and that is when everyone opens gifts. We get there at 9:00 like normal Renny has been stressing all day about us being on time which I thought was because he wanted Ryan to get to fully enjoy the night since he is finally old enough to enjoy the day. We arrive at his moms house and the rest of the family is there.

We sit, talk  and eat which is what we usually do so no big surprises there. At about 11:00 his mom says she needs all the daughters to go to the basement because she and her husband have bought us all special gifts they want to surprise us with. His family is great and has always welcomed with with open arms so I was not surprised when she told me to go downstairs because the surprise also included me. While downstairs his mom comes down and gives us all blind folds. I am shocked at this point trying to figure out what the gift is. The excitement is building. All us girls are sitting there extra excited. Then mom comes back downstairs to make sure the blind folds are on and no one can see. I am thinking everyone is blindfolded so as we go up the stairs I am telling people to be careful and counting the steps so no one falls. Sounding extra stupid while doing it but I wanted everyone to be careful.

Once we get upstairs mom says ok remove your blind fold and when I remove mine Renny is in front of me on bended knee with the ring in his hand. He says something about our ups and downs and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me followed by will you marry me?

I was so shocked and surprised I said yes fell to my knees and gave him a kiss and hug as you can see above. Ryan was right between us (even though you cant see him in this pic. He was apart of the proposal which I thought was extra special).

Once I got up and put on the ring I thought I was hearing things when I thought I heard my mom but I wasnt my mom and sister were right there and that just made me even more happy that they were apart of this. He got them there and I was overjoyed. I had all the people that meant the most to me in the room at the same time for what was one of the best days of my life.

His brother taped the whole thing and I really wish I would have known that it was going to happen. I hated what I was wearing, and come to find out no one else had on their blind folds so while I am shouting out cautionary directions everyone is walking eyes uncovered laughing at how crazy I sound. It could not have been better planned and I love him for going the extra mile to include my mom and my sister.
