Ceremony & Reception
Finally found our ceremony site. My home church wants to charge $2000 and that is so out of the budget. We finally found a great church after months and months of searching. The Oakland Church of Christ. A friend of mine had her wedding there and at first they were out of budget for us but once we found out it included 8-10 sessions of Pre-marital counseling it fell right into budget for us. The church is beautiful and so far they have been a pleasure to work with. As we get closer to the wedding we will start our sessions and get more into the church decor so I am excited.
We have to have a church wedding. My grandma is 88 years old and she wont have it any other way! So her wish is my command and I am finally happy to have this check completed and give my Grandma what she wanted.
OMG The RECEPTION!!!!
I thought we were all set but we were thrown a curve ball after thinking this check was completed for months. On January 9th 2011 Our 1st reception venue closed their doors due to foreclosure. Devastated Renny and I started our search once again with even less time on our hands to find a reception venue.
After tons on No's we finally found a new place, thanks to one of my knottie friend (mybestfriendfuturemrs) we booked at the Hellenic Cultural Center in Westland. This place is awesome and is giving us even more stuff than the previous site and the people there are so freaking nice. I meet with them and they were so welcoming and genuinely sorry to hear of what happened to us. I think this was the best thing for us because it looks like our reception now will be even better than I originally envisioned it. My Fiance only requested two things for the reception and that was an open bar and family style dinner. This place offered this and so much more. With our date being so popular I was happy to find this site available. So far it has been great working with them but we have only put the deposit down. :) Still need to do the tasting and logistically plan the layout for the room but I think it is going to be wonderful!
